11/8/2023 0 Comments Cell solitaire games online![]() For each variant, the program stored a ranked list of the players with the longest winning streaks. This original FreeCell environment allowed games with 4–10 columns and 1–10 cells in addition to the standard 8 × 4 game. Alfille was able to display easily recognizable graphical images of playing cards on the 512 × 512 monochrome display on the PLATO systems. He implemented the first computerised version as a medical student at the University of Illinois, in the TUTOR programming language for the PLATO educational computer system in 1978. Paul Alfille changed Baker's Game by making cards build according to alternate colors, thus creating FreeCell. Helena (not the solitaire game Napoleon at St Helena, also known as Forty Thieves). FreeCell's origins may date back even further to 1945 and to a Scandinavian game called Napoleon in St. Gardner wrote, "The game was taught to Baker by his father, who in turn learned it from an Englishman during the 1920s." This variant is now called Baker's Game. Baker that is similar to FreeCell, except that cards on the tableau are built by suit rather than by alternate colors. In the June 1968 edition of Scientific American, Martin Gardner described in his "Mathematical Games" column a game by C. One of the oldest ancestors of FreeCell is Eight Off. Deal number 11982 from the Windows version of FreeCell is an example of an unsolvable FreeCell deal, the only deal among the original "Microsoft 32,000" which is unsolvable. It is estimated that 99.999% of possible deals are solvable. The game is won after all cards are moved to their foundation piles. Computer implementations often show this motion, but players using physical decks typically move the tableau at once. The Foundations typically begin with Ace and are built up to King.Īny cell card or top card of any cascade may be moved to build on a tableau, or moved to an empty cell, an empty cascade, or its foundation.Ĭomplete or partial tableaus may be moved to build on existing tableaus, or moved to empty cascades, by recursively placing and removing cards through intermediate locations. Tableaus must be built down by alternating colors.įoundations are built up by suit. The top card of each cascade begins a sequence. Some alternate rules use from four to ten cascades. Some alternative rules use between one and ten cells.Ĭards are dealt face-up into eight cascades, four of which comprise seven cards each and four of which comprise six cards each. There are four open cells and four open foundations. Microsoft FreeCell is so definitive for many FreeCell players that many other software implementations implement compatibility with its random number generator in order to replicate its numbered hands. Microsoft has included a FreeCell computer game with every release of the Windows operating system since 1995, greatly contributing to the game's popularity among users of personal computers, even leading to the creation of several websites devoted to FreeCell. Although software implementations vary, most versions label the hands with a number (derived from the seed value used by the random number generator to shuffle the cards). It is fundamentally different from most solitaire games in that very few deals are unsolvable, and all cards are dealt face-up from the very beginning of the game. FreeCell is a solitaire card game played using the standard 52-card deck. 11/8/2023 0 Comments Marble roll in millennium tower![]() Jernigan, a retired software engineer, and Andrew Faulk, a retired physician, paid more than $4 million in 2011 for their condo on the 50th floor of the Millennial. “It’s a horrendous thing for the families to be going through now. “These people were lying in bed comfortably at night with no warning whatsoever,” former Millennium resident Jernigan said of the Surfside catastrophe. The surviving members of the Champlain Towers South condo association issued a statement Friday saying, “We know that answers will take time as part of a comprehensive investigation and we will continue to work with city, state, local, and federal officials in their rescue efforts, and to understand the causes of this tragedy.” ‘It was a really wonderful place to live’ The cause of the collapse is still unknown. She said ran toward the sound and witnessed the building’s underground garage collapse. Resident Sara Nir, who was in her ground floor condo at Champlain Towers South with her two children the night of the collapse, said she heard loud knocking sounds followed by a boom. Several engineers have told CNN that video of the collapse suggests the failure began near the structure’s foundation, and a 2018 survey prepared ahead of the building’s mandated 40-year certification cited problems in the pool area and the garage beneath it. Search and rescue teams had worked feverishly to locate missing residents until efforts were temporarily halted Thursday amid structural concerns about parts of the building that remain standing. ![]() In Florida, at least 24 people are dead and dozens are unaccounted for after the residential building partially collapsed last Thursday. “The building remains safe and is in no danger of collapse.” Surfside collapse may have begun in building’s lower reaches “The structural upgrade currently underway at the tower is intended to prevent further settlement, and recover some of the building’s tilt, rather than to repair damage or provide strengthening,” Hamburger said in the statement. The original foundation was built into deep sand and experts determined that nearby projects and a process known as dewatering had weakened the soil under the sinking tower. The retrofit, announced in October following years of lawsuits, hearings and accusations, will finally anchor the building to the bedrock. ![]() The piles will then be tied to the existing foundation, he said. “I can state with confidence that settlements experienced by Millennium Tower have not compromised its stability and safety.”Ī $100 million fix, set to be completed next year, involves the installation of piles into the bedrock of downtown San Francisco beneath the building, according to Millennium spokesman Doug Elmets. “Millennium Tower was designed to stringent earthquake resistance standards and is a much tougher form of construction than typical buildings in Florida, which are not required to be designed for earthquake resistance,” he added. He represented about 100 Millennium Tower residents who reached a mediated settlement in 2020 with developers and others to a lawsuit claiming their property values plummeted with news of the sinking. “When you have a high rise that collapses and you had a situation in San Francisco - we had a high rise that was sinking and tilting - it affects people’s peace of mind,” said attorney Niall McCarthy. Now, amid reports suggesting the deadly collapse of the Champlain Towers South more than 3,000 miles away in Surfside, Florida, began in the building’s lower reaches, questions are being raised about the Bay Area tower’s structural integrity. “It was billed as one of the top 10 most luxurious buildings in the world,” former Millennium resident Frank Jernigan recalled.īut, since it opened, the hulking blue-gray tower has sunk 18 inches into the soft downtown soil on which it was built - and it’s tilting, according to the Millennium’s current engineer, Ronald Hamburger. San Francisco’s lavish Millennium Tower, with soaring panoramic views and world-class amenities, opened to great fanfare in 2009.Ī dozen years later, it’s still promoted “Your city within the city,” a 58-story monolith with more than 400 multimillion-dollar units in San Francisco’s tallest residential building. You make some changes to both files and stage them using git add. Suppose you have a project with two files: hello.py and README.md. Here is an example of using this command. The 1 in this command specifies the number of steps or uncommits we want to do. In Git, the tilde symbol (~) is a shorthand notation used to refer to the parent commit of a particular commit.įor example, if you want to refer to the immediate parent commit of the current commit, you can use the tilde symbol followed by the number 1, like this: HEAD~1. However, it will not touch the index (which stores the staged files) or the working tree (which contains the modified files). It will move the HEAD pointer (which points to the latest commit on your current branch) to the previous commit. This command will undo your last commit, but it will keep your changes and your staging intact. The answer is simple: use the git reset -soft HEAD~1 command. You want to undo your commit, but you don’t want to lose your changes or your staging. You are ready to commit them, so you type git commit -m "Added awesome feature" and hit enter.īut then you realize that you forgot to do something important, like adding a comment or fixing a typo. Let’s say you have made some changes to your project and staged them using the git add command. Scenario 1: Undo the act of committing, But Keep Your Changes and Staging Intact In this section, we will discuss five different scenarios for undoing the last commit in Git each with a different approach depending on whether you want to keep your changes and staging intact, completely remove the last commit and its changes or even revert your changes after pushing to a remote repository. However, sometimes you may create a commit that you regret later.įor example, you may have committed a file that has a bug, contains sensitive data, or is too large to upload to GitHub. ![]() They help you keep track of your progress and let you go back to a previous level if you mess up or want to try something different. Each commit records what files you have changed, added, or deleted and also includes a message that explains why you made the change.Ĭommits are like checkpoints. Git allows you to create snapshots of your project called commits. And to undo a commit that you have already pushed to a remote branch, use git revert -no-edit. To undo everything, including discarding your changes and resetting your files to the previous commit, use git reset -hard HEAD.To undo the act of committing and also unstage your changes, but keep your files intact, use git reset HEAD.To undo the act of committing, but keep your changes and staging intact, use git reset -soft HEAD. ![]() By the end of this article, you will be able to fix your blunders and get your project back on track. ![]() In this article, you will learn what a Git commit is and how to restore to a previous version in Git, depending on what you want to achieve. (Updated 5 June 2017 – I discovered today that this is no longer the case and it’s possible to both view, and reply to, these tweets through web Twitter or Tweetdeck – this may change back to how it previously was of course!). Neither nor Tweetdeck (now owned by Twitter I believe, so should be considered as an official Twitter app) will let you see tweets from those who’ve blocked you. Log into Dabr( ) by authorising it to interact with your Twitter account, search for a hashtag or the name of someone who’s blocked you – find a tweet, click reply. Here’s how they (you / I / we) can do that. Remember that if someone’s blocked you the chances are high that they won’t see your reply, but others may well do. I think fewer people know that blocked people can also reply to your tweets, or retweet them, while logged in as themselves rather than some spare account. Most third party apps will now no longer let you view the profile of someone that’s blocked you – but if you’re reading and contributing to a hashtag you’d probably not even notice. However if the blockee is using one of the third party apps mentioned below then it involves precisely zero effort – it’s easy to see the tweets and reply to them, particularly if watching a conversation unfold via a hashtag. Generally this is wrongly believed to involve a bit of effort (in that they’d have to log out and search for your tweets, or log into a different account etc). ![]() I think most people now know that if you block someone they can still see your tweets. In those cases I think it’s worth replying to those tweets so that whenever anyone else clicks on them they might see the threaded replies with more correct info. Some of them are pretty harmless but a handful persist in tweeting misleading and occasionally dangerous health information. Over the years I’ve been blocked by lots of alternative medicine providers and supporters, particularly homeopaths and people flogging live blood analysis. This post serves two purposes – mainly to let more people know that if you’ve blocked someone they can still reply to your tweets ( and that other people can see and interact with those replies) and to highlight to skeptical or political activists that it’s still possible to correct misinformation tweeted by “the other side” (which of course works both ways!). Think most ppl know (a), not so sure they know (b). Remember that people you've blocked can still (a) see and (b) reply to your tweets. Tl dr– use these third party apps – Dabr (desktop) or Echofon or Janetter on iPhone. Also, remember that the person who’s blocked you won’t actually see your replies (unless they want to), but everyone else can. If you’re replying to someone who’s blocked you please try and be polite – your tweets are still subject to Twitter’s community rules and terms of service. You can see the tweets of people who’ve blocked you appearing in search results and you can reply by clicking directly on the reply icon (you can’t click on the tweet on Twitter though, though can on Tweetdeck). ![]() Unless you reply to another reply, in which case you can.Īdded 5 June 2017 – it seems that you no longer need to use third party apps when using Twitter / Tweetdeck on a desktop computer with a browser. You can send them new tweets but cannot use the loopholes below to reply to a tweet, so no more contributing to threads. This is a big improvement at first glance (although I can no longer correct nonsense spouted by homeopaths who’ve blocked me). More testing needed but it appears that you can no longer reply to an account that has blocked you. By 8 September 2017 – it looks like Twitter’s finally fixed this loophole. 11/8/2023 0 Comments Pioneer xdj xz traktor![]() Very minor, but I wished the headphone mix and level knobs were further down and away from the ColorFX section. I tried to changing the setting for Cue to behave as a gate when track is paused/stopped, but it does not affect hotcues. With the XZ, I either have to tap the 8 beat jump 8-16 times or be sure to have cue points prepared ahead of time. With Traktor, beat jump let's me quickly find a point to play for an unprepared track, like I'll find the drop and beat jump 16 or 32 bars back. My workaround for this is to connect a RMX-500 to the master output (Pioneer doesn't recommend connecting RMX units via the Send/Return), but this means the built-in recorder will not record the effects done via the RMX. I wish you could set the BeatFX filter to be non-time based, but that would require another knob as there is only one for Time and Level/Depth. If I add in a CDJ for Chan 3 and/or 4, forget about it. With the XZ, I have to turn the ColorFX knob for both channels which occupies both of my hands in other words, I can't tweak the Q/resonance when I'm using the filter while mixing two tracks. With Traktor, I'd have a filter for the Master output and individual filters for each channel. The BeatFX Filter can ONLY be used as an LFO filter (ColorFX Filter is the only non-LFO filter on the mixer). With that said, these cons are subjective and may be irrelevant to you. Most of the cons are entirely based on my habits/workflow that I've developed from using Traktor for so many years. I actually was able to prepare a number of tracks while I was on-the-go. Just export a playlist to your mobile device and you can prepare tracks on the go. ![]() This is more of a pro for RekordBox, but the mobile apps are convenient. After 4 days of tweaking the settings and mixing with it, here are my Pros/Cons: The main reason for the switch is to have the flexibility of a Rekordbox library since my friend has an XDJ-1000 setup, and the ability to broadcast the track name and other info to OBS (for Twitch streaming). After 10 years of using Traktor with various different setups (Xone:32 w/ X1, Traktor S4 MK1, and currently a Traktor S5), I finally decided to switch to Pioneer. 11/7/2023 0 Comments Sketchup![]() That is why today we have compiled a list of Sketchup alternatives from which you can choose the most suitable one for you. So if you are home, you’d set it off just with normal household noise, not to mention having all your conversations actually recorded, vs only potentially getting recorded if someone says something that sounds like the wake word. B) it isn’t a traditional glass break sensor. It definitely triggered a response.Īnd as for the Alexa Guard situation, a) that’s Alexa, not Ring, so you’d have to address your concerns in a different forum. I’ve verified this on my own system when I first got it by triggering it and then pulling the power and battery, as if it were totally offline (ie smashed). Not even my old ADT/GE system had a second pin to “cancel.” But a duress pin would solve that too.Īs I said above, and confirmed in the reply, if the base is smashed after the entry delay starts, at the end of the countdown plus 30 seconds, it will trigger a response when it doesn’t get an all-clear from the base. ![]() If it is smashed and can’t send this, it triggers a call/police response anyway when the monitoring center doesn’t get the all-clear event, for this exact reason. And if the base is smashed, the monitoring center already knows it is alarming, or in entry delay mode, and is expecting an all-clear event from the base. Second, the signal is sent to the monitoring company the instant the state changes, so when it enters entry delay from opening a door (or even if it’s set to window/secondary and it trips immediately), the monitoring center knows in less than a second. If you’re a Protect Plus/Professional Monitoring subscriber, even if the home internet and/or power were cut first, the base has battery and cellular backup. However, a duress pin would eliminate this issue regardless.Īnd no, they’re not susceptible to being smashed. If someone is forcing you to disarm, they’re going to expect a call if it’s already alarming, so they’ll just make you answer the call too, and would know if you gave the wrong answer or tipped off the agent. I question what difference the delay makes though. Also I’m based in Ireland - just in case we have different features/different app to U.S.I agree that duress codes would be very useful.Īlso longer codes than 4 digits since many compatible smart locks use up to 8 digits, but when paired to the Alarm, only support 4, like the Alarm. ![]() So my question is, did anyone else experience this problem? And did you find a solution?Īnd could it be because I haven’t paid yet (I’m still on the 30 day free trial of Ring Protect), could that be the issue, do you think?ĮDIT: I’m using Android (in case that has any relevance). I know that the duress code feature is only available to peole who have subscribed to Ring Protect (monitored plan). (Plus even if the app was the problem, when I login to my Ring account online, it should still show the duress code option there but it doesn’t, so I dont think it’s the app causing the problem). I’ve contacted Ring support & have been back and forth with them a few times, but they haven’t figured out any solution yet - they keep asking me to update the app, but I’m already using the latest version. >But when I get to that point, I dont see any option to set a duress code? I really want to enable this on my system. I actually think this is an excellent feature and very clever. It acts like a silent siren, so to speak. So for example, if an intruder was in your house holding you at knifepoint forcing you to de-activate the alarm, this code silently sends a distress signal for them to send the police immediately. I’ve read about the Duress Code feature (where you can select a ‘fake code’ whereby if you enter this code on the keypad followed by the de-activate button, you will appear to have ‘turned off’ your alarm, but in reality, it will have triggered an SOS to the Ring monitoring team). I’ve just installed my ring alarm system yesterday.
